Thekkady: Spice It Up, Nature’s Way Now, let’s spice things up a bit in Thekkady! This place is not just about cardamom and pepper; it’s also about lush forests and exotic wildlife. Get ready for a boat ride in Periyar Lake where you might spot a laid-back elephant or two, giving you a friendly wave with their trunks.
Pro tip: If you’re a fan of wildlife, Thekkady’s Periyar National Park is a must-visit. Just don’t challenge the elephants to a game of hide-and-seek.
Alleppey: Float Your Cares Away Time to swap hills for canals! Alleppey, the Venice of the East, welcomes you with open arms (and lots of water). Glide through the backwaters on a traditional houseboat, and let the gentle lull of the waves sing you a sweet lullaby.
Fun fact: Alleppey is famous for its snake boat races. No, it’s not a race with actual snakes; it’s a boat race that’s as thrilling as a snake’s hiss!
Pick up from Cochin Airport/ Ernakulum Railway Station and drive to Munnar - is a quaint hill station perched on the slopes of Western Ghats. It is both charming and old fashioned, with colonial style buildings existing with modern structures. Stop at Cheeyapara waterfalls enroute. Munnar is indeed a photographer’s delight. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, proceed on a full day tour of Munnar attractions. The Horticultural Garden, Photo point, Mattupetty Dam and Kundala Dam are all located on the route to the Top Station. Kundala Dam is known for the Arch type architecture. Echo point on the lower slopes of the region is a picturesque spot where you would find your voice echoing and thus derives the name Echo Point. All the above places are well worth a visit. With tourist having a flair for culture - they can spend their time in the evening at the Punarjani, Traditional village (Optional activity), where they get to see a piece of Kerala culture in the form of Kathakali Dance and Kalaripattu - a form of ancient martial arts, a visual treat to the eyes. Overnight stay.
Morning breakfast, check out and drive to Thekkady - The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. Enroute to Thekkady visit to Powerhouse Waterfalls-cascades down a steep rock 200m above sea level. On arrival check into the resort/hotel. Lunch and relax. Later on, visit to The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary - situated on the banks of the Periyar Lake - an artificial lake, at Thekkady. Return to resort/hotel, dinner and overnight
After breakfast, from the mountains to the plains drive down the countryside and get a glimpse of the picturesque countryside. Set out on an enchanting backwater cruise in a traditional Kerala houseboat. While cruising in the houseboat enjoy the scenes of the countryside - skim past bowed down paddy fields, duck farms, and indigenous dykes to see paddy cultivation in fields, situated below the sea level! And tree-lined and coconut palms swaying majestically on the banks are a real treat to the eyes. Overnight stay at houseboat with all meals
After breakfast, check out from the houseboat and return to Cochin. Places prior to reaching the airport/train station will include a visit to Fort Kochi and Mattancheryy to taste a piece of the ancient civilization of the 15 and 16th centuries. Thereafter, get dropped to board a train/flight for onward destination, feeling contended of a holiday you enjoyed in Kerala with a lasting impression of a lifetime. The tour ends here.
